Antique Nickel Silver Bowl with Repoussé Colonial Scene – Signed & Footed
This antique nickel silver footed bowl is a remarkable piece of craftsmanship. Marked on the bottom with three flag shapes and “NICKEL SILVER, 5189”, featuring a prominent “J”. Standing at approximately 4 1/2″ high and spanning 10 1/4″ across, this bowl boasts a rolled and flared rim measuring 1 1/2″ wide. The intricate repousse border depicts a captivating scene of Colonial life: men and women, apple trees, sailboats, log cabins, ridged boxes (possibly beehives), arched five-pane windows, lighthouses, round stone structures with rounded tops, and windmills. While showing signs of use, this bowl remains in nice condition and is a testament to the artistry of its time.
