Antique Kestner Doll (17″) – Bisque Head, Jointed Kid Leather Body & Original Dress
This exquisite antique Kestner doll dates back to the late 1800s and is a true testament to craftsmanship. Standing approximately 17 inches tall, she features a beautifully supple kid leather body that allows her to sit comfortably. Her articulated limbs are jointed, enabling a range of poses. The doll’s arms are sewn to the body, with one exhibiting slight looseness. Her bisque hands, in excellent condition, are a charming detail. From the knee down, she is filled with muslin and while her feet and ankles display water staining, they remain intact. Her enchanting bisque head boasts an open mouth revealing delicate teeth and captivating glass eyes set within the head. A tiny 2.3mm chip graces one cheek, adding to her character. Her chestnut real hair wig is in wonderful condition, complementing her timeless elegance. This doll’s attire includes a variety of pieces: cotton pantalettes, a half slip with ribbons, an underdress adorned with lace trim, black knit knee-high stockings, a pink high-neck dress also embellished with lace, and a striking red long coat with intricate lace appliqués. A handmade hat with ribbons completes her ensemble. This delightful antique doll, easily over 100 years old, is a remarkable piece of history.
