This is a remarkable antique Wirt Company Dim-A-Lite dimmer switch, a testament to American craftsmanship from the early 20th century. Dating back to November 24, 1908, as evidenced by the patent marking, this piece boasts a unique design combining porcelain and metal. The Dim-A-Lite features two chains for convenient operation and is clearly marked with “Wirt Company, Patented Dim-A-Lite, Nov. 24 – 08, Phila, PA. U.S.A.” as well as the voltage rating “40 W.110V.”. While we haven’t had the opportunity to test its functionality, this piece is a fantastic addition to any antique lighting or electrical collection.
